Day 9

!!!

Colossians

The town of Colosse was situated in what is now Turkey. The letter was written by the Apostle Paul to Christians struggling to hold firm to their faith. It was written about thirty years after the resurrection of Jesus. Paul was writing from prison in Rome. [AD 60]

Colossians 4:2-6 (NLT)

2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. 3 Don’t forget to pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to preach about his secret plan—that Christ is also for you Gentiles. That is why I am here in chains. 4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should. 5 Live wisely among those who are not Christians, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and effective so that you will have the right answer for everyone.

Paul highlights three important practises of the normal Christian. Prayer, living, and speaking—for Jesus.

Å             Devote yourselves to prayer [v2]

Þ             Think—How does Paul say that we should be when we pray? What does Paul ask us to pray about?

Å             Live wisely [v5]

Þ             Think—What kind of life is going to make a positive impact among non-Christians?

Å             Let your conversation… have the right answer [v6]

Þ             Think—What do you need to put in place to make sure you are able to answer people’s questions?

Å             How are you doing at prayer? How are you at living the Christian life? - or talking about Jesus?
