4  They gave in sympathy with obvious need

The Christians in Macedonia had heard about the plight of the church in Jerusalem and responded with generosity [verse 4].  It has been moving to see the response of many people throughout the country to Comic Relief or the Tsunami appeal.  This has been encouraging.

I'm glad that Roger, our Church Treasurer, has been able to present on this website our own financial situation as a church.  We seek to serve the Lord in our community and we've also had chance to review that situation through our 'Sharpening the Focus' programme.

It is very clear that we have a definite financial need if we are to achieve the work of building God's kingdom in this community - and that we will not be able to do this if we remain as we are.  This is why we are asking you, as part of our development plan, to consider how you might be able to give.
