A successor to David
As we swiftly move towards David and Pixie's last weekend with us, it
is inevitable that there is an air of uncertainty about what the future
holds for us as a church. We are going through the interregnum
process but we are not going through this on our own. The diocese
are very supportive in making sure that we get the right person for the
position - and Peter Hill, the archdeacon, is taking an active interest
in us here at Wilford.
We are in the process of producing what is known as the parish profile.
This is a document that outlines how God is leading us as a church and the type
of person we want to lead us over the coming years. The profile is almost
complete, but we need you - the church family - to assist in its final
completion. In order to do this we are holding a parish evening on
Thursday 25 September from 7 to 9pm, at which we would like to have your input.
This will be a prayerful reflection, when you will be able to put
your points of view on how God is moving us as a church. There
will be a number of areas around the church where you can write down
your reflections and post them up. This will help the church
council build up a picture of how we are being directed by God as a
church family.
The whole process is moving fast and, through the diocese, will will
be placing advertisements for the position as early as 10 October.
The selection process will only take a further four weeks where,
following the formal interviews, an appointment should be made by 12
November.
We need to seek God's guidance through your prayers during this period; that
by God's grace we meet the deadlines and select the person God wants to lead us
into the future.
