"An Evening to Remember"

on

Saturday 13th November 7 pm

at Wilford Church Hall

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,

We will remember them.

This is a community event in Wilford Church Hall. You are welcome to join us. We will share a meal and there will be opportunity for some of the senior members of our community to share memories of the war years. The evening will also include some community singing of "war time" songs, an audio-visual presentation reflecting on children in war, and more. Please feel free to join us. Because of space and setting tables, we would appreciate if you could let us know whether you are coming. Just email us at wilfordchurch@aol.com or telephone our church office [9817328] on Tuesday to Friday mornings 9.30-12.30p.m.

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row

That mark our place: and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved and now we lie

In Flanders' fields.

Take up your quarrel with the foe

To you from falling hands we throw

The torch, be yours to hold it high,

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders' fields

Poem by John McCrae 1915

Remembrance Service at 10.30 am
