Today was  our monthly prayer and reflection time,  meeting via zoom after Church. It was a time of great encouragement and we wanted to share it with you all.

At our last zoom meet up, a picture of stepping stones was mentioned, and today we spent time looking and reflecting on this image

There was a real sense that although it's hard to walk along the stepping stones and can be quite frightening, Jesus is alongside us in the water, holding our hand, as we walk in this vacancy. This was reinforced by Isaiah 43 " When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you" Also resonating with the "Footprints in the Sand" passage.

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. "Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

There was the image of the uniqueness of each of those stepping stones, and how, they like us as individually and as a Church are being moulded by the water.  Moving from the old to the new. The stones are close together as we are taking small steps at the moment.

Some of us had seen stepping stones on holiday, covered by rising water. Even though we might get our feet wet,  we can still cross safely if we take the right path.

God is saying I am holding your hand as you take each step, individually and as a Church.

We are meeting again for prayer and reflection on August 1st at 10.45 via zoom, perhaps another stepping stone.
